Joensuulaislähtöinen, tällä hetkellä Ranskassa asuva Tuomas A. Turunen opiskeli Göteborgin musiikkiakatemiassa Anders Jorminin ja Lars Janssonin johdolla vuosina 2004-2009. Turusen kokonaisvaltainen heittäytyminen soittoon ja omaperäiset tulkinnat ovat innostaneet jazz-yleisöä niin kotimaassa kuin eri puolilla Eurooppaa ja Etelä-Afrikassakin asti.
Hän on levyttänyt useita kertoja mm. yhtyeillään Skalle & Sharon (esiintyy Jazz-Espalla 27.7) ja Kauhukakara (esiintyy Vadelma-fest:issa Alppipuistossa 24.7).

Boesendorfer Montreux Jazz Solo Piano Competition
This Year is the 12th edition of the Bösendorfer Montreux Jazz Piano Solo Competition. We have received 44 applications from young pianists under 30 of 23 different countries from all around the world, from wich 12 candidates have been selected by the Montreux -Vevey- Riviera Conservatory of Music and School of Jazz to play at the semi-final in Montreux. The Jury of the Bösendorfer Solo Piano Competition 2010 is Yaron Herman.
5 young pianists have participated to the final which took place on Friday 9th of July.
The winners of the 12th Bösendorfer Montreux Jazz Solo Piano Competition are:

3rd prize : Zoltan Balogh (Hungary)
